Marrakech Day 2

Had a cracking day, did the mosque, museum and 1 of 2 palaces (maybe 3 if I can find it) got a bit lost looking around and was in a proper local area no tourists to be seen. Was roastin n stopped to get a drink (from a outside tap :s it was that hot i needed too!) some guy comes chatting to me, i told him i was ok, he persisted, took my arm n away i was, two hours later I’d been fed by his family had some mint tea and got out the sun, was scary to begin with but decided on the gamble. Walking from there house was pretty sketchy, every 100m I was being asked to buy weed! But fun day n time for a nap, then out for tea in a few hours!

Me and the snake charmer, he blessed me with this snake… but there was hardly a break in his speech from blessing me to asking for “paper money, only paper” so guess the blessing didn’t cover being fleeced? :S

Marrakech Day 1

So today’s been an experience, tiring, at times stressful (when I couldn’t find my hostel and just wanted to sleep) and hot and sweaty. I walked miles, had some great food and I have already been taken away twice to be sold carpets and a sahara camel or 4x4 tour and a picture with a snake and watched a snake charmer, he blessed me too for basically good everything, which was nice. Im thinking of doing the sahara tour but no too sure, there is loads to do without being stuck on a bus for a day, would be a shame to not spend all my time here i think. Had an argument with a waiter over a ripped note but it got sorted by the owner. Hostel is lovely, not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s an old fashioned Islamic house, virtually impossible to find but a absolute gem! Off sight seeing then next few days, mosque, museum few other places and a good old wander round the souks, it’s a huge maze and it’s a proper adventure just going for a walk, you get hassled a lot but that’s part of the charm, no so good when your eating but hey ho!
